This BOOTCAMP is designed for business owners ready to pursue a sale of their business in the next 12 months. These sessions are ideally suited for people who have a buyer in mind or plan to sell without the support of a Business Broker or Merger and Acquisition firm (M & A), however the boot camp will prepare you with the tools to be greater prepared in working with a firm, should you choose to do so after the course.

Transition 2020 Bootcamp will cover various stages of the process of selling your business in three core modules;

TELLING YOUR STORY:

Being prepared to engage a buyer with an organized process is the first step in building a trusted relationship with them.  Learn how to tell your story to attract the right buyer and how to provide your company’s information to them in a compelling and efficient manner, while maintaining confidentiality.

FINDING A BUYER:

You may have a single buyer in mind or want to identify several potential purchasers. In this module we will look at; Who, What, Where, When, How

  • Who are they in your Market, specific to your industry and size
  • What do they want
  • Where do you find them
  • When do you disclose what to them
  • How to communicate with them

SELLING THE BUSINESS:

Once a buyer has been identified, the work begins to refine the transaction and map the schedule to closing. We’ll review the following;

  • The offer letter
  • What to expect
  • The role of your lawyer and other advisors
  • Negotiations
  • Structuring scenarios
  • The process through to closing

Course Format:

The Boot camp format will bring you together with other business owners for 3, in-person, group sessions (3 hrs each) and 3 individual, virtual sessions (1 hr each) with your facilitator, over the course of 3 months.

Why 3 months?

This in-depth boot camp requires preparation of your financials, key metrics, business growth planning and other elements in order to build your sale strategy. The involvement of your accountant and other professionals may be required throughout the term of the boot camp. Time between sessions is allocated for you to work through the exercises and data collection.

Confidentiality

Confidentiality is highly respected among participants and it is mandatory that each participant execute an NDA upon registration.  We strictly ask each participant that they do not disclose the names of other business owners or their businesses, nor do they disclose to anyone outside of the group how they met fellow participants and under what circumstances.

Why Groups?

Selling your business can be an isolated experience. Often, business owners will choose not to disclose a sale to employees, suppliers or clients. Having a forum of trusted peers experiencing similar events is extremely valuable.  Shared knowledge among participants is advantageous, as no two business owners will experience the same sale.
